DigiTaps - How to play

DigiTaps

Overview

Welcome to DigiTaps! When you play this game, you will use gestures to enter digits. When you start a level, enter the digits you hear as quickly and as accurately as you can to earn points! Your points are computed by how long it takes for you to enter the digits and how accurately you enter them. The faster you enter digits, and the more accurately they are entered, the more points you get.

Here are the gestures you will use to play DigiTaps! The digits 0-9 can be entered by a combination of 4 different gestures, a 1-Finger Tap, 2-Finger Tap, 3-Finger Tap, and 1-Finger Swipe. Here is a list of all of the gestures!

  • 1-Finger Tap: Tap the screen with 1 finger.
  • 2-Finger tap: Tap the screen with 2 fingers at the same time.
  • 3-Finger Tap: Tap the screen with 3 fingers at the same time.
  • 1-Finger Swipe: Swipe with 1 finger.
  • 2-Finger Swipe: Swipe with 2 fingers placed parallel to each other, but not touching, to delete the last digit entered or gesture entered if you have entered an incomplete digit. Use this gesture to repeat the last played digit sequence if you have entered no gestures.
  • Long Press: Hold 1 finger on the screen until you hear either a bell or a buzzer. Perform this gesture after entering a digit sequence to submit your answer and learn if you entered it correctly!

Espresso

Espresso is one of the methods for entering digits when playing DigiTaps. This method is based on addition.

The 1-Finger Swipe can be viewed as a 0 or an end. For example, to enter the digit 3, you perform a 3-Finger Tap followed by a 1-Finger Swipe. This is like saying 3 plus 0 equals 3. Similarly, to enter the digit 7, you would perform 2 3-Finger Taps followed by a 1-Finger Tap. This is like saying 3 plus 3 plus 1 equals 7.

Here is a table explaining which gestures are required to enter each digit when playing with the Espresso DigiTaps method. If there is more than one gesture listed for a digit, perform the gestures consecutively in the order they are listed. Press the practice button to practice the Espresso method.

Cappuccino

These are directions for how to use the cappuccino method of entering digits in DigiTaps. This method is similar to the Espresso method, but is also partially based on subtraction.

The 1-Finger Swipe can be viewed as a 0 or an end. The subtraction piece of this method refers to entering the digits 7, 8, 9, and 0. For example, to enter a 7, you would perform a 1-Finger Swipe followed by a 3-Finger Tap. This is like saying 10 minus 3 equals 7. Similarly, to enter a 0, you would enter 2 1-Finger Swipes. This is like saying 0 minus 0 equals 0.
